Printer buying guide for Islamabad and Rawalpindi
Choosing a printer is easier when you start with what you print and how often. This guide from LuqmAn Laptops & IT Store explains the main types in plain words, so you can pick the right one and avoid paying for features you do not need.
Laser or ink tank?
| Laser printer | Ink tank / inkjet printer | |
|---|---|---|
| Best for | Fast, sharp black and white documents, invoices, forms, assignments | Colour documents, photos, projects, homes and shops that print often |
| Ink or toner | Toner cartridge | Refillable ink bottles (ink tank models) |
| Idle for a while | Toner does not dry out | Print regularly to keep the print head healthy |

Printer or multifunction (print, copy, scan)?
If you only print, a single-function printer is simpler and often cheaper. If you also copy or scan documents, choose a multifunction printer. If you only need to digitise paper, look at scanners.

Frequently asked questions
Which is better, a laser printer or an ink tank printer?
It depends on what you print. Laser printers are usually the better fit for fast black and white documents. Ink tank printers are usually the better fit for colour printing and photos, with refillable ink that keeps the cost per page low.
What does duplex mean on a printer?
Duplex means the printer can print on both sides of the paper automatically, which saves paper.
What is the difference between a printer and a multifunction printer?
A printer only prints. A multifunction printer (MFP) prints, copies and scans, and some models also fax.
Do I need Wi-Fi or network (LAN) on my printer?
Wi-Fi lets you print from a laptop or phone without a cable. Network (LAN) is useful in an office where several computers share one printer.
